Switching Between Libraries

iPhoto Library Manager provides several ways to switch between your iPhoto libraries. The most obvious way is to click the radio button next to one of the libraries in the list to make it the current library. Note that if iPhoto is running when you change libraries, you will need to relaunch iPhoto in order for it to use the new library. In the preferences, you can also choose to have double clicking a library in the list launch that library with iPhoto.

You can also choose libraries by control-clicking on iPhoto Library Manager's icon in the dock. A menu will pop up containing a list of all your libraries, and selecting one of the items will open that library.

If you are running other iLife or iWork applications, iPhoto Library Manager will allow you to access the photos in different libraries from within these applications as well. To do so, simply switch libraries, quit or relaunch iPhoto if it is already running, and then relaunch the other application for the changes to take effect.

If you keep a library on a network server, removable media, or disk image, you can use iPhoto Library Manager to keep track of its location. If the library is not currently available, its name will be shown in red in the library list. When you connect to the server or mount the disk that the library is stored on, it will turn black once iPhoto Library Manager has found it. If, when you open a remotely stored library, you want the network server or disk image to mount automatically, click on the Options button in the main window and then check the box titled "If library is on remote volume, mount automatically". If you then open that library from iPhoto Library Manager, it will mount the drive for you (asking for passwords as necessary) and then open the library.
